A unique Zoom-conference was held on the 1st of March 2021 by the initiative of KAFU long-term partner, Co-Serve International, with participants from three international universities: Kazakh-American Free University (Kazakhstan), Herat University (Afghanistan) and Boris Grinchenko Kyiv University (Ukraine).
During the two-hour discussion the partner universities shared their own story of building “student first” culture, at the heart of which is the desire to help each student find their unique life purpose. Co-Serve International, KAFU and BGKU have a long history of partnering together in offering the International Servant Leadership Program for students and faculty, holding Summer Leadership Academies, joint projects and other initiatives. The new partner, Herat University, has also recently established a Leadership Center with great hopes of offering training to students and faculty, and do research in leadership.
Dr. Marshall Christensen, Co-Serve International founder, shared the key concepts from his new article that is being prepared for publication jointly with a doctoral student and the head of the BGKU Leadership Center, Maria Vizhna. The essense of the article is in the idea that the main purpose of the universities is to help each student understand who they are, their value, discover their unique calling and steps toward fulfilling their purpose throuth their career.
Plans have been made to continue this series of Zoom meetings to discuss further cooperation ideas and application of the ideas and priciples of servant leadership across our universities.
