Within the framework of international cooperation, the Kazakh-American Free University with the “Co-Serve International” Found and the USA universities` support hold the “Learn English – Access the World” English contest of high-school students from the East Kazakhstan Region.

More than 200 students from different schools took part in the contest. Ameircan teachers (Mike Jaskilka, Kaitlin and Samuel Pearson) and the teachers from KAFU who underwent the study course in the USA (Yulia Novitskaya and Vladimir Elakov) were in the jury.

As the part of the contest`s program, Mike Jaskilka (PhD), professor from Portland, and Carol Mark, English teacher from California, hold work-shops for school teachers.
The contest consisted of two parts. The first part included tasks on listening and reading skills, and the structure test. The second part aimed to check speaking skills, and included crafted and spontaneous speech. Prize-winning place were divided between schools of Ust-Kamenogorsk and schools from other towns, and villages separately.

16 teams from 47 schools were chosen to take part in the second part of the contest. The team of the High-School 38 got the first place; the second is the team of the High-School 25 for children gifted in Math, Physics and IT; the third is the team of the Lyceum 34 for gifted children. Among schools from other towns and villages, the winner is the team of the Ayagoz`s secondary school 7, the second is the team of Belousivka`s secondary school, the third is the team of Ayagoz`s High-School.
