“Integrity Hour” campaign
On September 5, 2024, the Kazakh-American Free University held the nationwide “Integrity Hour” campaign dedicated to issues of fairness, academic honesty and the formation of an anti-corruption culture.
The event was opened by the university management and representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The first head of the East Kazakhstan region department, Major General Denis Vladimirovich Shakenov, and KAFU President Erezhep Alkhairovich Mambetkaziyev greeted the participants and students, outlining the key principles of an anti-corruption culture. During the event, it was emphasized that integrity is an important element in the formation of intolerance to corruption in Kazakhstani society, especially among student youth. The call for compliance with the law and academic honesty was the central theme of the speeches.
The report was given by the officer of the Anti-Corruption Service Gulnur Bekbaeva, who spoke about the main provisions of the anti-corruption legislation. Also, the compliance officer of KASU Ermek Zhunuspekov acquainted first-year students with the academic policy and the code of academic honesty.
At the end of the event, senior students shared their experience of participating in anti-corruption initiatives at the university. The students were also shown a thematic video prepared by the Anti-Corruption Service.
The organizers emphasized the importance of forming the values of honesty and integrity during the training period, which will form the basis for the future professional and personal success of students.
