International Conference at KAFU: Altay Amanzholov’s Contribution to Turkic Culture

On December 11, 2024, the Kazakh-American Free University hosted an International Scientific and Educational Conference dedicated to the outstanding research of the outstanding scientist Altay Amanzholov. The event, organized by the International Public Foundation “Ketbuka-Tolegetay” and the administration of the Ulan district, brought together scientists, researchers and members of the public from different regions and countries.

The main topic of the conference was Altay Amanzholov’s fundamental research, which played a significant role in the revival and study of Turkic cultural heritage. His works reflected key issues of linguistics, ethnography, and the history of the Turkic peoples.

The conference began with a ceremonial welcome from the President of the Kazakh-American Free University, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerezhep A. Mambetkaziyev, who emphasized the importance of preserving Amanzholov’s scientific heritage for future generations.

The moderator of the plenary session was Manarbek A. Mukhamedzhanov, coordinator of the International Public Foundation “Ketbuka-Tolegetai,” who skillfully directed the discussion and ensured the event’s dynamism.

The following delivered welcoming remarks:

– Kairat M. Mussin, President of the «KM» Group of Companies and the International Public Foundation “Ketbuka-Tolegetai”, who noted the importance of joint initiatives in the study and popularization of Turkic culture;

– Arman I. Bekbossynov, Akim of the Ulansky District, emphasized Amanzholov’s contribution to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the region.

The reports of the plenary session covered a wide range of topics:

– Kurshat Yildirim, Professor of Istanbul University, highlighted the problems of ethnogenesis of the ancient Turks in the works of the scientist.

– Anvar K. Buranov, Associate Professor of Tashkent State University, demonstrated the connection of the national spirit with the deciphering of ancient Turkic inscriptions.

– Gulmira B. Madieva, Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, focused on the importance of Amanzholov’s works for the development of Turkic culture.

– Shynar Kapantaykyzy, Professor of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, noted the unique contribution of the scientist to Turkology.

– Nurdaulet B. Akish, chief researcher of the M. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art, examined the key linguistic concepts of the work “Introduction to Linguistics”.

– Berdibek Biyarov, Professor of the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, highlighted the onomastic research of the scientist.

– Aibek M. Karimov, head of the project of the International Foundation “Ketbuka-Tolegetai”, revealed the cognitive aspects of Amanzholov’s scientific works.

The meeting ended with an active discussion and a question and answer session, where participants were able to discuss current issues and exchange scientific opinions.

The conference emphasized the relevance and demand for the scientific heritage of Altai Amanzholov. His works inspire new generations of researchers to study and popularize the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples, contribute to the strengthening of intercultural dialogue, and promote the development of scientific ties between countries.
