Master’s Students from India Join the Double Degree Program of the Kazakh-American Free University and the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences (Germany)

In October 2024, the Kazakh-American Free University welcomed a group of master’s students from India to participate in the double degree master’s program in IT Management. This program, implemented jointly with the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences, was launched in 2023 and immediately attracted the attention of the international academic community. The first group included nine students from India, eight of whom represent the state of Kerala and one from Delhi. All of them have already completed their first year of study in Germany and are now continuing their academic studies in Kazakhstan.

The dual degree program is aimed at developing professional competencies in the field of IT management, computer science, business information systems, management and business administration. The uniqueness of the program lies in the fact that it combines the strengths of German and Kazakh education, and also provides for mandatory intercultural interaction. This opens up broad career opportunities for master’s students, especially in the field of global IT management.

The program is fully accredited by the German agency ASIIN, which confirms its compliance with high European educational standards. Upon completion of the program, master’s students receive two diplomas – from KAFU and the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences, which significantly expands their employment opportunities in international companies. The entire learning process – from lectures to writing master’s theses – is conducted in English under the guidance of academic advisers from both sides.

For master’s students from India, participation in the program was not only an educational, but also a cultural experience. Before arriving at KAFU, they spent a year in Germany, where they acquired valuable skills in an international academic environment. An equally exciting journey awaits them in Kazakhstan. The university actively supports its international students, providing them with comfortable living conditions in the dormitory and assistance in adaptation.

For Indian master’s students, the dual degree program of KAFU and the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences offers a number of key advantages:

  • International experience — students have a unique opportunity to study in two different countries, which allows them to broaden their horizons and acquire skills to adapt to different cultures and educational systems.
  • High academic standard — the program, accredited according to European standards, is aimed at developing professional competencies in key areas such as IT management and business information systems.
  • Expanded career opportunities — obtaining two degrees significantly increases the prospects for successful employment in international technology and management companies.
  • Development of intercultural competence — studying in Kazakhstan and Germany contributes to the formation of important intercultural skills that are necessary in the context of globalization.
  • Support and adaptation — KAFU provides the necessary conditions for a comfortable stay of international students, providing them with accommodation, support during the learning process and access to modern educational resources.

As a result, the dual degree program provides Indian students with extensive opportunities and effectively prepares them for a successful professional career in the international market.
