Opening of the James Evenson Entrepreneurship Center

On September 27, 2024, the Kazakh-American Free University proudly opens the James Evenson Entrepreneurship Center to mark its 30th anniversary. The new center will be an important step towards developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the region and Kazakhstan as a whole, bringing together students, faculty, and the business community to promote innovation, support startups, and develop entrepreneurial skills.

The Entrepreneurship Center will be a unique educational and practical platform focused on preparing a new generation of leaders in business and innovation. The center’s main areas of work include supporting students who want to develop their own business ideas, conducting educational programs on entrepreneurship, and interacting with the business community to create partnership projects.

The name of James Evenson was chosen as a symbolic one for the Center in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of the university.

James Evenson is a co-founder of the Kazakh-American Free University. He has been actively involved in the development and growth of KAFU for over 30 years. Currently serving as Vice President, he will also lead the university’s new Centre for Entrepreneurship.

A natural entrepreneur himself, Mr. Evenson has founded numerous businesses around the world, including several in Kazakhstan. He is currently Managing Partner of MineCon Kazakhstan, Managing Partner of APG LLC in the US, and Partner at Crown Capital, a New Zealand-based investment firm.

The James Evenson Centre for Entrepreneurship will act as a catalyst for advancing entrepreneurial activity in the region, offering participants access to mentoring, business incubators, and workshops from leading experts in business and technology. The centre is expected to foster startups and innovation across a range of industries, including technology, education, and creative industries.
