“Publishing a Manuscript in Scopus: Advice from the Editor”: Guest Lectures for Faculty and Students at KAFU

On September 30, 2024, two guest lectures were held at the Kazakh-American Free University on the topical issue of scientific publications in international journals indexed in Scopus. The lectures on the topic “Publishing a Manuscript in Scopus: Advice from the Editor” were given by Martina Varkočková, Associate Professor at the Metropolitan University of Prague (Czech Republic) and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Central European Journal of International and Security Studies.

During the lectures, Martina Varkočková shared with the audience valuable recommendations for young researchers and scientists who seek to publish their work in prestigious international journals. She spoke about the key aspects of preparing scientific articles, the selection criteria for publication in journals included in Scopus, and typical mistakes to avoid when submitting manuscripts.

Particular attention was paid to the peer review process and the importance of properly presenting research results, as well as how to choose the right journal for publication. Professor Varkočková emphasized that successful publication in international publications contributes not only to the development of a scientific career, but also to raising the academic status of universities.

The lectures aroused great interest among students, teachers and researchers. At the end of the event, the participants asked the speaker many questions, which allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the publication process and receive practical advice on promoting scientific research in the international arena.

These lectures have become an important educational initiative for KAFU, aimed at increasing the level of scientific activity and expanding international cooperation in the field of academic publications.
