Seminar within the Framework of Cooperation between Universities

On February 12, 2025, within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation between the A.K. Kusayynov Eurasian Humanities Institute (Astana) and the Kazakh-American Free University (Ust-Kamenogorsk), senior lecturer, doctoral student Nursulu K. Turgumbayeva held a seminar on the topic “Functional Grammar of the Kazakh Language: Structure and Use”.

Third-year students of the Faculty of Philology of EHI got acquainted with a relatively new area of the Kazakh language, developing based on the communicative paradigm. After reviewing the aspects of language study and considering the motives of the functional element, a definition of this area was given. An overview of the state of its study was also conducted.

The teacher gave specific practical examples from the Kazakh language from everyday conversation and fiction. The examples covered such functional-semantic fields as spatial meanings, the meaning of direction, instrumental meaning, the meaning of joint action, and others.

For feedback and training of students who will become teachers of the Kazakh language in the future, Nursulu K. Turgumbaeva used an interactive method, consolidating the theoretical material through the game “Semantic Auction”.

Rector of EHI Nurbanu T. Nygymanova presented a letter of gratitude to the senior lecturer of KAFU Nursulu K. Turgumbaeva for developing partnership relations between the two universities and assistance in organizing the academic mobility of teachers.

We hope that cooperation between the two educational institutions will develop successfully!
