The Republican Public Association “Youth Assembly” Opened at KAFU
On February 27, 2025, the grand opening of the student association of the “Youth Assembly” took place at the Kazakh-American Free University.
The Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, founded on March 1, 1995, is a unique civil society institution that ensures peace and harmony among more than 130 ethnic groups living in the country. In 2025, declared the Year of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took the initiative to create a youth wing “Youth Assembly” at universities. The goal of this program is to involve active youth in projects aimed at strengthening the unity of the peoples of Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh-American Free University actively supported this initiative, because its President, Yerezhep A. Mambetkaziyev, is a member of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. KAFU became one of the first educational platforms where a youth branch of the Assembly was created.
The created association is aimed at developing interethnic dialogue among students, popularizing the cultures and traditions of the peoples of Kazakhstan, as well as holding educational, educational and charitable events. An important task is to support youth initiatives that contribute to strengthening peace and harmony in society.
Rada I. Yudanova, an active leader who completed training at the “Youth Assembly” camp, was appointed Chairperson of the KAFU association. The experience she gained will become the basis for organizing the effective work of the student community.
The opening of the “Youth Assembly of KAFU” was accompanied by speeches of honorary guests and leaders of youth movements. Vice President for International Relations of KAFU Daniel Ballast addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of the initiative and spoke about the university’s contribution to the development of youth intercultural projects.
Next, Timur Dzhumurbayev, Chairman of the NGO “Youth Assembly” of Kazakhstan, explained to the students the key areas of the organization’s activities, outlining the prospects for youth participation in large-scale national initiatives.
Particular attention during the event was paid to the development of regional projects. Ravil Yunussov, Chairman of the “Youth Assembly” of the East Kazakhstan region, presented the students with a plan of events for the coming year, and also shared his impressions of the youth camp, which was held from February 24 to 27.
The final stage of the meeting was a discussion by students of their personal experience of participating in the programs of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. Young people actively shared their opinions, proposed ideas for the development of the association within the university and expressed their readiness to participate in upcoming initiatives.
The opening of the “Youth Assembly of KAFU” was an important step in the formation of a student environment based on the principles of mutual understanding, respect and friendship between peoples. In the future, it is planned to actively implement cultural, educational and social projects aimed at strengthening the national identity of young people. The creation of the “Youth Assembly of KAFU” not only meets the state policy in the field of interethnic harmony, but also opens up new opportunities for university students. Young people receive a unique platform for communication, self-realization and participation in socially significant initiatives.
