Career Orientation Trainings

All faculty members of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology actively carry out career guidance work aimed at preparing and selecting their “ideal” applicants. The department employs the following methods:
distribution of promotional and informational materials (brochures, flyers, posters, and banners);
advertising and sharing information through mass media, including article publications and TV interviews;
informing potential applicants about the conditions of study, accommodation, and opportunities for cultural and sports activities;
sending information to enterprises and organizations that may be potential employers of graduates and have the capacity to recommend applicants for admission;
posting materials for prospective students on the university website and on social media platforms;
organizing preparatory courses for the UNT (Unified National Testing);
forming and operating mobile career guidance groups in administrative districts of East Kazakhstan Region;
holding image-building events such as “Open Day,” “Holidays at KAFU,” career guidance games and mini-trainings for school and college students, alumni meetings, and inviting leading faculty members to deliver open lectures.
In addition, lecturers in the field of Psychology conduct specialized career guidance trainings at the KSU “Resource Center – School of Distance and Specialized Education,” as well as within all university-wide career guidance activities.
School students are shown a presentation and a film about the Kazakhstan-American Free University. Group and individual consultations are held, along with psychological diagnostics. These formats usually generate great interest and engagement among students, stimulating their career motivation and professional choice.
A permanent element of career guidance work is the training series “I Choose a Profession…” which aims to develop career decision-making competence among senior students by involving them in active planning of their professional future and broadening their understanding of career options.
As part of the Open Day event, future applicants attend an interactive lecture-presentation titled “Practical Tips from a Psychologist on Choosing a Career.”
