Entrepreneurship Course: A Field Trip for a KAFU Specialized Class
On December 1, 2025, students from the specialized class of the Kazakh-American Free University (KAFU) from Y. Altynsarin Secondary School No. 39 visited the Qurt&Wine and LaFesta restaurant complexes as part of their “Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship and Business” course. The tour was led by instructor Dinara S. Mamyrbekova.
The students immersed themselves in the atmosphere of the modern restaurant business, learned about the origins of Kazakh cuisine, and modern trends in the hospitality industry. They were shown how a restaurant’s concept is formed—from menu ideas to spatial architecture and stylistic solutions. The students carefully examined the interiors, national ornaments, decorative elements, and materials that create the unique atmosphere of the restaurants.
The tour was led by guide Aigerim S. Abedzhanova (Gastrotour.vko), who provided a detailed explanation of the philosophy of gastronomy, service features, and approaches to creating a competitive restaurant project. The meeting was held in an interactive format: students shared their own observations, completed practical assignments, and participated in group discussions. This approach allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of real-world business processes related to the course and to see how theoretical knowledge translates into real-world management decisions, developing a deeper understanding of the structure and logic of modern business operations.
Earlier in November, as part of their specialized training, students also participated in meetings with international experts:
– Gary Soper, a certified English teacher from Knoxville, Tennessee, USA, a partner of KAFU;
– Stefan Noack, a research fellow and doctoral student at the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau, Germany.
Following the meeting, the participants noted its practical significance and expressed their willingness to continue such discussions.
The KAFU Specialized Class project remains an important platform where students gain not only academic knowledge but also experience developing leadership skills, expanding their professional horizons, and strengthening partnerships between the university and educational organizations in the region.
