Mambetkaziev Aidar Yerezhepovich – Rector of the Kazakh-American Free University

Aidar Yerezhepovich was born on January 7, 1965 in Almaty. 

After graduating from high school in 1982, he entered the Kazakh State University. From 1983 to 1985 he served in the Armed Forces. From 1986 to 1989, he continued his education at the Ust-Kamenogorsk Pedagogical Institute, from which he graduated with a degree in Geography and Biology. In 1996, he received a second degree in Economics and Management at the East Kazakhstan State University.

In 2004 he graduated from the master’s degree of the Kazakh-American Free University (KASU) in the specialty “Management” (MBA), in 2012 – the doctoral degree of this university in the specialty “Management”.

In 2013, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of PhD at the T. Ryskulov Kazakh University of Economics.

He started his career at the Kazakh-American Free University in 2001 as Vice-President for Financial and Economic Affairs, and later – First Vice-president of the Kazakh-American Free University. Since 2013, A.E. Mambetkaziev has been the rector of KASU.

Today, under the leadership of Aidar Yerezhepovich Mambetkaziev, the Kazakh-American Free University is one of the leading private universities of international partnership in Kazakhstan, providing training in 40 educational programs of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral PhD programs, having international and Kazakhstani accreditation, occupying annually high positions in the rankings of the best universities in Kazakhstan. The University has 6 academic buildings, a sports complex, educational, industrial and recreational facilities, 2 colleges.

Under the leadership of Aidar Yerezhepovich, KAFU is annually included in the National Ranking of the best humanitarian and economic universities in Kazakhstan.

KASU was among the first in the Republic to pass the international accreditation of educational programs of economic profile in the American organization ACBSP (USA). The university’s educational programs in the areas of “Law” and “International Relations” have been internationally accredited by the ACQUIN organization (Germany). Also has institutional and specialized accreditations of the independent agency for quality assurance in education NAOKO

At the initiative of Aidar Yerezhepovich, the university received the status of a “City University”, which is designed to become a center for assistance in the development of social partnership between educational institutions, enterprises and city authorities; work on organizing and conducting early professional diagnostics of school students; monitoring the choice of profession by school graduates; teacher training in the content of the subject; directing their scientific activities; studying the needs of in the personnel of the city’s economy, the forecast for training.  

 A.E. Mambetkaziev takes an active part in the creation of educational, cultural and sports facilities in the city and the region, which could be used by East Kazakhstan residents. On his initiative, a sports hall was built at the expense of the KASU in Ust-Kamenogorsk, which eventually should become a health center for residents of the microdistrict. In 2018, a new modern academic building was built in the city center. A new dormitory has been built for nonresident students, which meets all modern requirements.   

Taking care of environmental protection, he initiated the stocking of one of the Sibinsky lakes, where a base will be created for students of the city studying in the specialty “Tourism”.  

In 2013, A. E. Mambetkaziev was awarded the title of “Academician of the International Academy of Informatization”.

In 2009, for his contribution to the field of education and science, he was awarded the badge named after “Y. Altynsarina” of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2014 – A. Baitursynov medal, twice awarded with diplomas of Akim of East Kazakhstan region (2004, 2014).
