KAFU celebrates its 30th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the rector’s activity of Academician Mambetkaziyev

In September 2024, the Kazakh-American Free University celebrates two important events at once: the 30th anniversary of its foundation and the 40th anniversary of Academician Erezhep Mambetkaziyev’s tenure as rector.

This anniversary year is marked not only by ceremonial events, but also by new achievements in international cooperation, updated educational programs, as well as numerous cultural, sporting and educational events.

Founded in 1994, KAFU was one of the first universities in Kazakhstan to provide its students with access to quality education according to international standards. Since its foundation, the university has followed the mission of combining educational practices of the East and West. KAFU offers programs that combine the Kazakh and American education systems, making it one of the few educational institutions in the country with such a unique approach. The university is accredited by ACBSP (USA) and ACQUIN (Germany), has accreditations from IQAA (Kazakhstan), which confirms its commitment to high educational standards.

The uniqueness of KAFU lies in its international connections, established thanks to the efforts of its founder, Erezhep Mambetkaziev, whose experience and foresight allowed the university to achieve a high level in scientific and educational spheres. Thanks to numerous agreements with universities in Europe and the USA, KAFU students have the opportunity to participate in international internships and exchange programs.

The week of celebrating the 30th anniversary of KAFU began with a grand opening ceremony, where teachers, employees and veterans of the university who made a significant contribution to its development were honored. Particular attention was paid to international partners, including professors from the USA and Germany, who closely cooperate with the university. As part of the anniversary, cultural events were also organized, such as a festival of national cuisine with the participation of ethnocultural associations of Kazakhstan.

The anniversary celebration will include a sports tournament, many master classes from foreign teachers from all over the world, seminars and round tables on current issues in pedagogy, sociology, law and business. During the celebration week, KAFU signed a number of memorandums of cooperation with leading universities in Europe and the USA. One of the important events of the anniversary celebrations will be the general meeting of the Association of Universities of Kazakhstan, which will be held on September 26 under the chairmanship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek. The celebration will end with the solemn event “KAFU: 30 Years of Creation”, which will take place on September 27, 2024 at 10:00 in the building of “Ertis Concert” (CDC). The event will become a bright symbol of gratitude and appreciation of the university to its students, teachers, staff and partners.

Special attention at the anniversary celebrations was given to the 40th anniversary of the rector’s activity of Academician Erezhep Mambetkaziyev. During his leadership, the university not only grew to an international level, but also became a center of innovation in the educational sphere of Kazakhstan.

E.A. Mambetkaziyev became a symbol not only of academic leadership, but also of reformism, thanks to which the university has preserved its unique identity and continues to develop, adapting to modern challenges.

International activities of KAFU remain a key area of ​​its development. As part of the anniversary events, the university confirmed its plans to further expand cooperation with foreign partners. More than 60 foreign teachers and university representatives attended the celebrations, which emphasizes the high level of recognition of KAFU in the global educational arena.

KAFU continues to be a leader in international education in Kazakhstan, and its 30th anniversary serves as a reminder of how important global partnerships and innovation are in today’s world. The University looks to the future with optimism, remaining true to its traditions and striving for new heights.
