KAFU International Leadership Academy: Introduction to the Successful Business of «Shygys Universal» LLP

As part of the International Leadership Academy, which the Kazakh-American Free University holds jointly with Co-Serve International (Portland, Oregon, USA), on June 2, 2025, participants made an inspiring visit to «Shygys Universal» LLP – the first commercial enterprise in the Academy’s 2025 program.

This trout farm is a great example of how a family startup can grow into a successful, sustainable business. Founded in 2017 by Vyacheslav Assanov and his wife, today the farm has 50 employees and produces about 1,000 tons of trout per year, providing a significant part of the Kazakhstan market with products.

Vyacheslav personally met with the Academy participants, conducted a fascinating tour, and shared the story of growth and difficulties overcome. He emphasized that the company’s greatest asset is its people. The profit-sharing system allows employees to feel like true partners and co-authors of the business’s success. It was especially touching to hear how Vyacheslav rejoices that the results of their work benefit not only the company but also the families of employees, as well as the local community through charitable projects. This visit became a true example of leadership in action for the Academy participants – leadership that is built on courage, faith in one’s business, care for people, and a willingness to take risks for the sake of the future.
