KAFU Student — Laureate of the Republican Youth Award “Hero of the Year” (“Qaisar”)

Erasyl Omarkhanov, a student of the Kazakh-American Free University, has become a laureate of the Republican Youth Award “Hero of the Year” (“Qaisar”) within the framework of the “Rukhtastar” award.

We are rightfully proud of the achievement of our student, who has been honored with one of the country’s most prestigious and significant youth awards. The “Hero of the Year” nomination is presented to young people who have demonstrated courage, resilience, and selflessness in emergency situations—those who were not afraid to take responsibility and provide life-saving assistance. In the spring of 2025, Erasyl performed such a heroic act by rescuing a drowning child from the fast-flowing Ulba River.

The act of our student is not merely a display of bravery in an extreme situation. It is evidence of strong character, inner responsibility, and civic maturity—qualities that are a source of pride not only for the university, but for the entire country.

The “Rukhtastar” award was established by the youth wing “Zhastar Rukhy” of the AMANAT party and is aimed at supporting active and socially responsible young people of Kazakhstan who make a real contribution to the development of society. Laureates are selected by a republican competition commission composed of members of the Mazhilis, scholars, public figures, and specialty experts.

The winner receives a diploma, a statuette, and a monetary prize, and most importantly—public recognition of their contribution to strengthening the values of civic responsibility and public safety.

We congratulate Erasyl on his well-deserved award and wish him future success.
