KAFU Students among Top Three Winners of the “Kind Heart” Award
The results of the annual “Kind Heart” award, established by the «Kazzinc» company, were summed up in East Kazakhstan. This award is given for the manifestation of sincere courage – when a person risks his life to save others. The winners were determined by popular vote, in which thousands of Kazakhstanis took part.
The Kazakh-American Free University was especially proud this year – two KAFU students at once entered the top three finalists of the award.
Almas Yelemes, who received 1,184 votes, showed determination and courage by stopping a brutal knife attack. He disarmed the attacker and held him until the police arrived.
Yerasyl Omarkhanov, for whom 1,165 people voted, saved a child who fell into an icy river. Thanks to his courage and prompt assistance in resuscitation, the child’s life was saved.
According to tradition, the heroes will be awarded statuettes and certificates for 1 million tenge. The award ceremony will take place on July 18 at a festive concert for Metallurgist’s Day in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
KAFU is proud of its students – the real heroes of our time!
