KAFU students learned to apply artificial intelligence in translation work
On March 27, 2025, at the Kazakh-American Free University, students of the educational program 6B02301 – “Translation Studies,” under the guidance of Foreign Languages Department lecturer A.V. Smagina, held a seminar-workshop on the use of artificial intelligence in the professional work of translators. The seminar discussed the possibilities of applying AI in various types of translation activities.
The seminar-workshop was also attended by first-year master’s student of the 7M02302 – “Translation Studies” program, E. Upobayev, who shared his practical experience as a technical translator at JSC “Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium-Magnesium Plant.” He spoke about the use of AI in working with metallurgical terminology, demonstrated an algorithm for performing mixed translation, emphasized the importance of post-editing, and conducted a training session that helped students gain skills in using AI for technical translation.
