KAFU success stories – Nurlan Kapenov
2024 is an anniversary year in the history of KAFU.
30 years ago, thanks to the ambitious initiative of Academician Erezhep Alkhairovich Mambetkaziev, the first international partnership university in the Republic, the Kazakh-American Free University, was opened in the East of Kazakhstan.
One of the best universities in our region, KAFU, accepts congratulations on its 30th anniversary from its graduates, students, and partners from all over the world.
Today we are congratulated by one of the first graduates, Nurlan Nurgalievich Kapenov.
Nurlan Nurgalievich graduated in 2000 with a degree in Economics and Management. Nurlan Nurgalievich began his career in 2000, and until 2003 he worked in the city of Astana at the I-Su Corporation in various positions from manager to first deputy general director, where the company was engaged in industrial and civil construction. From 2003 to 2009, he worked in the city of Atyrau as General Director of SpetsStroyEngineering LLP and AtyrauZhilStroyIndustriya LLP, also in the field of industrial and civil construction. In 2010, he held the position of Chief Manager of the Department of Infrastructure Projects at JSC Center for Engineering and Technology Transfer in Astana. From 2010 to 2014, he began working in the structure of Samruk-Energy JSC from the position of Chief Manager of the Department of Corporate Governance and Prospective Development to Deputy General Director of Samruk-Green Energy LLP (100% subsidiary of Samruk-Energy JSC). From 2014 to the present, he has been working as General Director of the Kazakh-British joint venture Samruk Kazyna – United Green LLP, which is engaged in the implementation of renewable energy projects.
Nurlan Nurgalievich made a significant contribution to the development of the energy industry and projects for the use of renewable energy sources. In particular, having started working at Samruk-Energy JSC, Kapenov N.N. stood at the origins of the implementation of projects for the construction of wind and solar power plants, which have now been successfully implemented, and actively participated in the study and implementation of world experience in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During his work in the energy industry, Kapenov Nurlan Nurgalievich was awarded a Certificate of Honor from Samruk-Green Energy LLP for the professional holiday “Energy Engineer Day” – 2011, a Certificate of Honor from Samruk-Energy JSC for the professional holiday “Energy Engineer Day” – 2012. , Certificate of Honor from the “Kazakhstan Electric Power Association” – 2013, Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan for contribution to the development of renewable energy sources – 2013, Certificate of Honor from Samruk-Kazyna Invest LLP in honor of the celebration of Energy Day – 2015 In 2017, he was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In December 2016, Nurlan Nurgalievich Kapenov was awarded the title and medal “Honored Energy Engineer of Kazakhstan.”
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 29, 2016 No. 380, he was awarded the anniversary medal “Kazakhstan Republic of Kazakhstan lived 25 years.”
In 2017, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 5, 2017, he was awarded a state award – the “Eren Enbegi Ushin” medal.
On May 28, 2018, he was awarded the medal “Kazakhstan Republicsynyn ecology salasyn 30 years” from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 20, 2018, N. Kapenov was awarded the anniversary medal “Astana 20 years”.
Under the leadership of Nurlan Nurgalievich, Samruk Kazyna-United Green LLP, through its subsidiary Burnoye Solar-1 LLP, was implemented and put into operation on July 2, 2015 in the Zhambyl region by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Nazarbayev Nursultan Abishevich, within the framework of the teleconference on the “Industrialization Day”, the renewable energy project “Solar power plant with a capacity of 50 MW at the Burnoe site in the Zhambyl region” (hereinafter referred to as the Project), which has become exemplary and significant for our country. On May 12, 2016, at the 25th anniversary annual report of the EBRD in London, the Project received the highest award in the “Sustainable Development” category among 400 projects in the world.
In June 2018, the Partnership completed the project “Second stage (expansion by 50 MW) of the Burnoe solar power station in the Zhambyl region”, thus the 100 MW Burnoe Solar solar power station is the largest in Central Asia and the CIS countries, and is a unique project in the field of green energy.
In addition, Nurlan Kapenov was directly involved in almost all major industrial projects in the field of renewable sources in Kazakhstan, such as the “45 MW wind power plant near the city of Ereymentau”, and others.
To date, with the participation of N. Kapenov, a foreign investor and a major global manufacturer of solar panels, the Risen Energy company, have completed the construction of the Gulshat Power Solar Power Plant of 40MW in the Karaganda region.”
Along with the above projects, in March 2019, the Partnership plans to begin implementation of the project “Baikonyr Solar Power Station with a capacity of 50 MW in the Kyzylorda Region” (hereinafter referred to as the Baikonyr SPP), located near the city of Kyzylorda.
Under the leadership of Kapenov, foreign direct investment was attracted into the economy of Kazakhstan in the amount of more than $50 million for the development of green energy in our country.
Nurlan Kapenov is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kazakhstan Solar Energy Association, and is also a member of the working groups of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Association of RES of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of development and implementation of renewable energy sources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He made a great contribution to the development of the “green economy” of the Republic of Kazakhstan, established himself as a highly qualified, technically competent leader in the field of energy, able to apply the most progressive working methods and is a leader in the field of renewable energy sources.
