Literary Salon Dedicated to the 130th Anniversary of Sergei Yesenin’s Birth was Held at the Kazakh-American Free University.
The event brought together faculty, students, and guests of the university, creating an atmosphere of warmth, creativity, and sincerity.
On this day, the poet’s poems were recited—heartfelt, filled with love for their homeland and humanity. Participants read them not simply from the stage, but from the heart, striving to convey the feelings Yesenin himself imbued in them.
The literary salon opened with the short film “130 Years Since Yesenin’s Birth,” produced by students of the Journalism program. This is the young journalists’ unique perspective on the poet, whose words remain powerful over the years. Welcoming remarks were addressed by KAFU First Vice President and PhD Zhassulan Baikenov, Vice President for International Relations Daniel Ballast, and Rector’s Advisor Natalia Nesterenko.
They noted that such meetings help young people deeply appreciate the beauty of their native language and develop creative thinking.
The participants’ work was evaluated by a jury consisting of university faculty and representatives of the creative community. The jury included:
– Natalia A. Nesterenko, KAFU Rector’s Advisor and Jury Chair;
– Andrey V. Voronin, Artistic Director of the Regional Drama Theater;
– Nadezhda P. Zueva, Teacher of Russian Language and Literature at the Ust-Kamenogorsk College of Construction.
They emphasized the high level of preparation, expressiveness of the readings, and sincerity of the performances.
Following the meeting, all participants and their supervisors were awarded certificates and commemorative gifts. The organizers expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in the event for their inspiration, talent, and love of poetry.
Sergei Yesenin’s poetry once again resonated within the university walls – vividly, sincerely, and truly from the heart.
