Meeting of students within the framework of the work plan of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan and the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan
On April 19, 2024, as part of the work plan of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan and the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan, a meeting of students of the Kazakh-American Free University was held, organized with the aim of popularizing science and engineering, technical and environmental education related to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. As part of this event, a lecture on the topic was given by the head of the Information Center on Atomic Technologies of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan, Seit Aliyev.
The meeting touched upon important issues related to the natural origin of radiation, methods of its use by humans, as well as mutations and radiation selection. The topics of the evolution of living organisms and human thinking, as well as issues of caring for others through the use of non-destructive testing at the entrances to the country’s transport arteries, economical disinfection of food and sterilization of objects using ionizing radiation were covered.
The main conclusion that can be drawn from the meeting is that humans have control over the forces of nature and can use them safely and effectively with proper professional supervision. This demonstrates that the peaceful uses of nuclear energy are of great importance not only in scientific and technical aspects, but also in ensuring the safety and well-being of society.
Such events to popularize science and engineering education play an important role in the educational process, helping young people understand the significance of scientific discoveries and technologies for the development of society. We hope that initiatives like this will continue and expand, helping to develop the scientific thinking and technical skills of future professionals.
