Press Tour to Ust-Kamenogorsk Hydroelectric Power Station
On March 27, 2025, students of the EP “Journalism” of the Kazakh-American Free University took part together with the Senior Lecturer of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology Natalya A. Moshenskaya in a press tour to the Ust-Kamenogorsk hydroelectric power station. The event was organized on the eve of the spring environmental release – an important stage in the station’s operation, associated with regulating the water level and protecting the ecosystem.
Future journalists had a unique opportunity to visit the heart of the hydroelectric power station, where tamed elements are transformed into energy. During the excursion, the station’s specialists told how the hydroelectric power station prepares for the spring spillway, why this process requires precise preparation, and what measures are taken to ensure the safety of people and nature.
Participants were able to ask questions of interest, dispel myths about environmental release, and learn how the station’s monitoring systems work during the flood season. For students, this was not only a vivid impression but also an important professional experience: to see the work of power engineers from the inside, communicate with experts, and practice preparing information materials on current environmental topics.
