Prevention of Youth Offenses: KAFU Discussed Internet Fraud and Drug-Related Crimes
On February 19, 2026, a preventive session was held at the Kazakhstan-American Free University with students, aimed at increasing legal literacy and preventing offenses among young people.
The speaker of the session was Major A. B. Manzhenov, Senior Operative Officer of the Criminal Police Division of the Irtysh Police Department of the Ust-Kamenogorsk City Police Department. During the discussion, he focused in detail on current threats in cybersecurity and unlawful activities in which young people are often involved.
Special attention was given to the problem of internet fraud. Students were informed about common fraud schemes. The topic of “dropping” — the illegal use of third-party bank cards and accounts to withdraw and transfer stolen funds — was discussed separately.
The session also addressed the issue of drug-related crimes among youth. The police representative explained the mechanisms by which young people may become involved in the illegal circulation of narcotics, including via the internet and messaging apps, and reminded students of the strict legal consequences established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Such sessions contribute to the formation of legal awareness, the development of critical thinking, and the enhancement of personal responsibility among young people.
