Republican Festival “IT Innovation Fest”

On November 13-14, 2024, a large-scale IT festival was held in Ust-Kamenogorsk, organized by the regional branch of the international startup technopark Oskemen HUB with the support of Astana HUB, together with Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, the SDI Alumni Club association and the digitalization department of the East Kazakhstan region.

The event included two areas:

• CodeMasters Hackathon – a programming marathon.

• IdeaBattle – a creative ideas competition.

Students of the Kazakh-American Free University, Department of Business (Information Systems program) presented projects within the CodeMasters Hackathon and won well-deserved awards:

• Almat Kokeev, a 2nd-year student of the Information Systems program, presented the “Helline” project – a telegram bot that:

o provides information on first aid for injuries;

o shows the location of the nearest hospitals;

o provides emergency numbers;

o has a SOS function that transmits the coordinates of a person needing help.

Almat Kokeev took 4th place and received 40,000 tenge for their development!

• Danil Kroshkin and Yekaterina Druzhinina, 2nd-year students, presented the Questify project — an interactive mobile application combining visual novels and programming elements.

Project features:

o Fascinating story quests with an educational component.

o Dialogues with the effect of typing text for immersion in history.

o Interactive tasks for learning and consolidating programming skills.

o Unique visual scenes, animations and bright characters.

Danil and Yekaterina took 2nd place and won 125,000 tenge!
