Round table at KAFU: “Discipline Starts with You!” – Prevention of Current Social Threats

On February 11, 2025, a Round table was held at the Kazakh-American Free University as part of the “Discipline Starts with You!” campaign aimed at preventing and solving current social problems. The event was attended by experts who covered the most important topics, such as online fraud, financial pyramids, gambling addiction and droppers.

The speakers were the head of the Organizational and Control Department Zhanar K. Taygaranova, investigator for especially important cases Laila G. Isakova, chairman of the Council of Veterans of Financial Monitoring Bodies Murat M. Merekenov and the head of the Administrative Department Raikhan M. Rakhmatullina. Each of them shared unique experience and knowledge regarding protection from fraud and threats that citizens face in a modern digital society.

Particular attention was paid to issues of online fraud, including various schemes that criminals use to deceive citizens. The speakers talked about ways to protect themselves and the behavior that helps to avoid falling into such traps. Financial pyramids, despite their destructive power, still pose a serious threat to the population, especially among young people. The participants of the Round Table discussed how to recognize such schemes and what steps to take to protect personal finances.

The problem of ludomania was also discussed – addiction to gambling, which is becoming increasingly relevant due to the development of online casinos and other gambling platforms. It was emphasized how important it is not only to understand the risks, but also to be able to seek help if addiction occurs.

The topic of droppers was touched upon – people involved in illegal schemes related to the sale of personal data and money laundering. The speakers told how to identify such cases and how to combat such crimes.

The event was held in the format of an open discussion, where university students could ask questions to experts and get answers to topics that are relevant to them. Such meetings are becoming an important part of educational work and education of young people, aimed at creating a safe educational and social environment.
