Seminar-Training on the Topic “Drug Addiction and Drug Business: Social Risks, Consequences and Methods of Counteraction”
On March 5, 2025, a seminar-training on the topic “Drug Addiction and Drug Business: Social Risks, Consequences and Methods of Counteraction” was held at the Kazakh-American Free University together with the Youth Resource Center of East Kazakhstan region.
The event was attended by representatives of the regional prosecutor’s office, specialists of the drug treatment service and a psychologist of the “Antares-A” public foundation . The participants discussed key issues related to the spread of drug addiction, its consequences for society, as well as effective methods of prevention and combating the drug business.
The seminar examined the impact of drugs on a person’s physical and mental health, the social and legal consequences of their use, as well as the destructive effects of drug addiction, including personality degradation, destruction of family relationships, decreased ability to work and an increase in crime. Special attention was paid to methods of preventing the involvement of young people in the drug environment and ways to help addicts.
The experts emphasized that the drug business is one of the global threats to modern society. Illegal drug trafficking schemes, methods of recruiting young people into criminal structures and measures of criminal liability for participation in drug trafficking were analyzed. Representatives of law enforcement agencies spoke in detail about the punishments for the distribution and sale of prohibited substances.
One of the most emotional moments of the seminar was the speech of the mother of the convicted young man, who sincerely called on young people to realize the dangers of drugs and never connect their lives with them.
Holding such events helps to raise awareness among young people about the problem of drug addiction, develop critical thinking when choosing a life path and form an active civic position in the fight against the drug threat.
The training seminar at KAFU once again confirmed the importance of an integrated approach to drug prevention and the need to unite the efforts of educational institutions, law enforcement agencies and public organizations to create a safe future for the young generation.
