Strengthening the Scope of Application of the State Language in Higher Education

On November 3, 2023, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology Gulzhan B. Edilbaeva gave a lecture to the students of the East Kazakhstan Abay Humanitarian College in pursuance of paragraph 3.2 of the protocol order of the Second Meeting of the National Kurultai “Adiletti Kazakhstan-Adal Azamat” chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev to consider the possibility of strengthening the role of the state in language and further expanding of the scope of its application, especially in the field of science and education.

The lecturer introduced in detail the resources used in the development of language policy, linguistic projects, the creation of high-quality terminology and new innovations in teaching the state language. Considering the current issues of teaching the state language, she spoke about telegram bots and websites specially designed for learning the language of young people. The speaker called on young people to explain, convey, create conditions that the need for a state language is a requirement of the time, and call for raising the status of the language.
