The Dual Journalism Training Project Continues at the «Altai TV» channel.
The Kazakh-American Free University continues its dual journalism training program at the «Altai TV» channel. The “campus + real newsroom” format allows students to immediately apply theory in the channel’s production cycle—from planning meetings to broadcasting.
As part of the project, Madina I. Karibaeva, Deputy Director and Editor-in-Chief of the «Altai TV» channel, and the editorial team conduct practical classes on information gathering and verification, field reporting, working with video and audio materials, editing, voice-over writing, broadcast preparation, and basic media safety standards. Senior students of KAFU will strengthen their skills in teamwork, meeting deadlines, and making informed decisions under real deadlines. A special focus of the current period is strengthening news storytelling practices, working in a collaborative fashion between correspondent, cameraman, and editor, and developing soft skills such as editorial communication, self-organization, and journalistic ethics. Academic assignments are integrated into the channel’s production schedule, giving future specialists a clear understanding of market demands and helping them develop individual career paths.
Result: the dual model based on «Altai» provides KAFU students with a seamless “knowledge → skill → portfolio” connection and creates clear career prospects in regional and national media. The next operational step is to expand project assignments and deepen modules on reporting and editing throughout the semester.
