Thematic Event Dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

April 29, 2025, the Kazakh-American Free University hosted a thematic event dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. It was timed to coincide with a significant date – the 80th anniversary of Victory. The Great Victory remains a symbol of courage, unity and fortitude of our people. On this day, the participants of the event once again looked through the pages of history, reminding us of the exploits of heroes.

The veteran of labor Lyubov S. Sirgienko was the honorary guest of the event. She spoke to students and teachers with a heartfelt story about the war years, shared little-known facts from the history of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the memories of her family, who went through the difficult trials of wartime. Her words touched the listeners to the depths of their souls, evoking a feeling of pride and gratitude.

Then the floor was given to history teacher Lidiya P. Turova. She prepared a fascinating and informative lecture on the key events and significant dates of the Great Patriotic War. Accompanied by archival video materials, documentary chronicles and photo slides, the lecture allowed students to visualize the course of military operations, the difficulties of the civilian population and the contribution of the home front to the overall victory. The footage of the liberation of cities and the meeting of the victors in the spring of 1945 made a particularly strong impression.

The students expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants for the opportunity to experience living history and emphasized how important it is to preserve the memory of those events, passing it on from heart to heart.
