Visit of an American Professor to KAFU
In the period from December 8, 2023 to January 4, 2024, a number of events are being held at the Kazakh-American Free University under the foreign research program, financed by the republican budget, with the participation of the American professor Constance Carla Devereux from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
During the visit, lectures were held for the students and undergraduates of KAFU educational programs “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” and “Translation Studies”. Seminars are held for young scientists and doctoral students, as well as for city school teachers on the topics: “Learning English Language through Rhythm Strategies”, “Visual Arts as an Aid to Language Instruction”, “Problems with Prepositional Language”, “Language Culture, and Identity” “, “Cultural Policy in Kazakhstan”, “The Language of Leadership in a Cultural Context”. A number of meetings took place with the KAFU administration, doctoral students and master’s students.
Also, as part of the professor’s visit, it is planned to hold a Round Table on the topic “Possibilities for New Degree Programs Focused on Culture, Policy and Creativity”, dedicated to the need to create an educational program “Cultural Management”, conduct training for university employees on the topic “Structure of Research Papers” . It is planned to hold workshops for college students in the city.
Professor Devereaux advises KAFU doctoral students and works on writing articles in collaboration with university lecturers.
