Visit of KAFU Students to “Boarding School” “Ak Niet” within the Framework of the Course “Inclusive Education”

On October 8 and 15, 2024, 3rd-year students of the pedagogical educational programs of the Kazakh-American Free University, under the guidance of Senior Lecturer of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology Zhanar K. Sadanova, visited “Boarding School” “Ak Niet” of the East Kazakhstan region education department within the framework of studying the course “Inclusive Education”.

The students were met by the school director Svetlana K. Krivitskaya, deputy director for academic work Karlygash M. Rakhanova and deputy director for educational work Sabina R. Turgumbaeva. They told us that the boarding school educates and raises children with musculoskeletal, visual, hearing, and speech disabilities, and also receives psychological, medical, pedagogical, and correctional support, adapting to general social life.

The students got acquainted with the offices of a speech therapist, psychologist, teacher of the deaf, tiflopedagogue, as well as with robotics classes, physiotherapy, a therapeutic exercise room, and a sensory room. In addition, they observed the work of special educators.
