Winner of the International Russian Language Olympiad
Sofia Koltygina, a second-year student in the Journalism and Reporting program, won the XIV International Russian Language Olympiad “Cyrillic,” demonstrating a high level of language proficiency and professional competence. She scored 100 points out of 100, taking a distinguished first place!
During the Olympiad, participants answered questions covering various areas of the Russian language: spelling and punctuation, vocabulary and phraseology, norms of modern literary Russian, stylistics, and speech culture. The tasks required not only theoretical knowledge but also the ability to apply linguistic norms in practice, analyze text, and formulate thoughts accurately.
Sofia Koltygina is a graduate of Lev Gumilyov Gymnasium No. 38 in Ust-Kamenogorsk and a graduate of the specialized class at KAFU. Her victory in the Olympiad is particularly significant for her future profession. For a journalist, literate, precise, and expressive speech is a key professional tool. Participating in Russian language Olympiads helps develop linguistic intuition, text management skills, attention to detail, and a sense of responsibility for public speaking—qualities essential in reporting and analytical work.
Furthermore, such intellectual competitions develop the ability to work under time constraints, argue one’s position, and confidently navigate complex language situations that journalists encounter daily in their professional work.
The International Russian Language Olympiad was held on the portal of the Federal Center for Information and Educational Resources under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The competition results can be found at: http://erudyt.ru/
We congratulate Sofya on her well-deserved victory and wish her further success in her studies, creative work, and new achievements in international competitions and Olympiads!
