Workshop “Artificial Intelligence in Teaching the Kazakh Language: New Approaches, Tools, and Challenges”
As part of the International Scientific Congress “Humanization of Education in the Digital World: Professional and Ethical Guidelines for International Partnership,” on November 12, 2025, the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology at the Kazakh-American Free University organized a workshop “Artificial Intelligence in Teaching the Kazakh Language: New Approaches, Tools, and Challenges.” The event was led by Nursulu K. Turgumbayeva, a master’s student and doctoral candidate at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and senior researcher in the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology at KAFU.
The main goal of the workshop was to demonstrate effective ways to use artificial intelligence technologies in teaching the Kazakh language, improve teachers’ digital literacy, and create conditions for developing creative and critical thinking in the educational process. During the workshop, participants were introduced to four main types of AI tools:
• Text generation – ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude;
• Text analysis and grammar checking – Grammarly, LanguageTool;
• Speech-to-text conversion – Google Voice Typing, Whisper, KZtts bot;
• Image and infographic creation – Canva AI, DALL•E, Microsoft Designer.
Specific examples were given to demonstrate how the use of these tools contributes to the development of students’ language skills, the individualization of educational content, and the activation of the learning process. Student assistants Aymaral Shalabayeva and Dilyara Korgau complemented the practical part of the workshop by presenting the interactive and graphical capabilities of AI platforms. Ayaulym Serik defended a poster on the topic “Can Artificial Intelligence Replace a Teacher?” as part of her research in the discipline “Scientific Research Methods.” In conclusion, the participants discussed the possibilities and limitations of using AI technologies in teaching practice and expressed their willingness to use AI in the modern educational process.
