Choosing a Career in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
On September 30, 2026, Kazakhstan-American Free University hosted a meeting between participants of the “KAFU Specialized Class” project and representatives of Nuremberg University of Technology Georg Simon Ohm (Germany). The meeting was organized by Natalia Alexandrovna Nesterenko, Advisor to the Rector of KAFU.
The school students were addressed by Anita Virgine, an English and Academic Writing instructor responsible for international partnerships in her department, and Christoph Mühlberg, Head of the International Office at Nuremberg University of Technology Georg Simon Ohm.
The meeting focused on the topic “Choosing a Career in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” The experts explained how the development of modern technologies is changing the labor market and the content of traditional professions. Artificial intelligence is already capable of performing many routine tasks, including analyzing data, preparing reports, carrying out calculations, translating texts, and answering standard questions.
At the same time, skills related to human interaction remain particularly valuable. These include the ability to make decisions in non-standard situations, negotiate, work in a team, build trusting relationships, understand people from different cultural backgrounds, and take responsibility for one’s choices.
The speakers advised school students to consider not only their area of interest when choosing a future profession, but also the opportunities provided by an educational program to develop communication skills, learn foreign languages, work in teams, and gain international experience. Participants were also encouraged to start developing these skills now by speaking in front of an audience and taking part in debates, volunteer activities, and community projects.
Nuremberg University of Technology Georg Simon Ohm is a public university of applied sciences located in Nuremberg. It is the second-largest university of applied sciences in Bavaria. Its major fields of study include engineering, business administration, social sciences, and design. The university is named after the renowned German physicist Georg Simon Ohm, who taught and served as the head of the institution in the 19th century.
The meeting with international experts helped participants of the “KAFU Specialized Class” project gain a better understanding of the professional and personal qualities that will be particularly important in the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence.
