Copyright and Trademark Protection: A Guest Lecture under the “Law and Order” (Zan men Tartip) Initiative
On September 28, 2026, a guest lecture titled “Copyright and Trademark Protection” was held at the Kazakhstan-American Free University for third-year students majoring in “Jurisprudence” and “Law and Law Enforcement.”
The lecture was delivered by representatives of the Intellectual Property Rights Division of the East Kazakhstan Region Justice Department: Division Head Gulfara S. Sarbasova and Chief Specialist Shynar K. Zhuragatova.
The event was organized as part of the “Law and Order” (*Zan men Tartip*) initiative, which aims to strengthen the principles of legality and public order, enhance legal culture, and foster respect for the law alongside a zero-tolerance attitude toward legal violations. Intellectual property protection is a key aspect of upholding the rule of law, as respect for copyright and trademark rights fosters fair competition, creative activity, and a responsible attitude toward the fruits of intellectual labor.
The students are currently studying “Intellectual Property Law,” making this meeting with practitioners directly involved in intellectual property protection a valuable supplement to their theoretical coursework.
During the lecture, the speakers outlined the specifics of copyright and trademark protection, presented relevant materials, and discussed real-world case studies. Such events help strengthen the legal consciousness of future lawyers, fostering respect for intellectual property rights and an understanding of personal responsibility for legal compliance—values that align with the core principles of the “Law and Order” initiative.
