Digital Safety and Cyberbullying: An Open Class at KAFU

On September 24, 2026, Alexander Vyacheslavovich Palkin, a lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages, conducted an open lesson for second-year students of the Kazakhstani degree programs “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” and “Translation Studies.”

The lesson was held as part of the state program “Law and Order” and focused on the topic “Digital Safety and Cyberbullying.” The students examined the main threats in the digital environment, discussed the issue of cyberbullying and ways to stay safe online, and shared their own opinions, supporting their views with arguments in English.

The discussion-based format made it possible to combine foreign language practice with the discussion of current issues of modern life. Working with real-life situations in the digital environment contributed to the development of students’ critical thinking, communication skills, digital literacy, and responsible attitudes toward personal and public safety.

Such activities contribute not only to students’ language development but also to fostering a culture of responsible behavior in the digital space, in line with the objectives of the state program “Law and Order.”
