Discussion on Social Issues: “Preventing Gambling Addiction”

On September 24, 2026, as part of the implementation of the “Adal Azamat” program, second-year students of the American Program of the educationalprograms 6B02301 “Translation Studies” and 6B01703 “Foreign Language: TwoForeign Languages (English)” at the Kazakhstan-American Free University tookpart in a discussion on social issues entitled “Gambling Addiction Prevention” ledby Elvira B. Akhmetchanova, a lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages. 

The students discussed the problem of gambling addiction, its causes, and itspossible consequences for individuals, families, and society. Particular attentionwas paid to the impact of gambling and betting on young people, financial literacy, as well as the role of families, educational institutions, and individuals themselvesin preventing gambling addiction.

The participants actively shared their opinions, considered various real-lifesituations, and discussed where the line between entertainment and addictivebehavior can be drawn.

During the open discussion, the students had an opportunity to exchange views, support their opinions with arguments, and suggest their own preventive measuresaimed at reducing gambling addiction among young people. The event provided anopportunity to draw students’ attention to a pressing social issue and emphasize theimportance of a responsible and conscious attitude toward gambling.
