Journalistic Experience: From Studio to Website
As part of the 16th International Forum of Young Scientists “Modern Scientific Trends: From Applied Research to Innovation,” a meeting was held at the Kazakh-American Free University on April 7, 2026, between students and Zhanbolat Saniyaz, editor-in-chief of the Minut.kz website and a correspondent for the national television channel “Atameken Business.”
The meeting was attended by first- through fourth-year students from various faculties, including journalism and education. The speaker spoke about the importance of taking journalism seriously—not only for the sake of earning a diploma and subsequent employment, but also for gaining practical experience, developing professional skills, and staying abreast of modern trends.
During the meeting, he also shared insights into the work of a journalist, outlined the journalist’s code, and explained the qualities needed to become a truly successful specialist in this field. As an example, he showcased several of his works, including the story “Where Do Akims Live?”, which reveals information about the akims’ residences, their lifestyles, their cars, and who previously occupied these houses.
At the end of the meeting, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and receive valuable advice from a practicing journalist. The event proved a valuable experience for the participants, allowing them to better understand the specifics of the profession and motivating them to further develop their careers in journalism.
