KAFU Held a Round Table to Discuss the Draft Law “On the Court Interpreter.”
On June 9, 2025, the Kazakh-American Free University hosted a roundtable discussion on the draft law “On the Court Interpreter”.
The purpose of the event was to discuss the draft law, identify potential gaps, and consider the opinions of specialists from related fields, including jurisprudence, linguistics, and judicial practice.
The round table was attended by:
1. Alembayev K.O. – PhD, Professor, Head of the Department of Law and International Relations at KAFU;
2. Adilmuratova R.A. – Master of Law, Senior Lecturer at KAFU, Doctoral Candidate;
3. Bekbosyn T.G. – Inspector for Office Work of the Department of Justice of Astana, veteran of the judicial system, journalist, previously – Head of the State Language Department at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
4. Adilmuratova A.A. — chief specialist of the branch of the “Department of Judicial Administration” of the Republic of Kazakhstan in East Kazakhstan region, court interpreter;
5. Kaliakparov K.Sh. — member of the Presidium of the RCA, member of the Presidium of the AC of East Kazakhstan region, lawyer of the AC “AC of East Kazakhstan region”;
6. Aleksandrov V.A. — senior assistant to the prosecutor of East Kazakhstan region, head of the personnel work group, senior justice adviser;
7. Kabylzhanova G.T. — notary, previously — chief specialist of the “Administrator of Courts of East Kazakhstan region” for the development of the state language, court interpreter;
8. Muzhchil S.A. — legal consultant of the Chamber of Legal Consultants of East Kazakhstan region, member of the Kazakhstan Union of Lawyers;
9. Abdilova Zh.M. — translator of Individual Entrepreneur «Abdilova»;
10. Nurlanova A.N. — candidate of philological sciences, professor of KAFU;
11. Umitchinova B.A. – PhD, Associate Professor;
12. Edilbaeva G.B. – Senior Lecturer of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, Master of Philology;
13. Zhunusbekov E.M. – Doctoral Student of the Department of Law and International Relations of KAFU;
14. Misevra L.A. – Senior Lecturer of KAFU, Master of Psychological and Pedagogical Education;

During the discussion, expert opinions were presented, and professional explanations and comments were given. The roundtable participants made constructive suggestions and comments on the draft law sent to them on May 5, 2025. Following the discussion, the draft law “On the Court Interpreter” was approved. The event became a significant step towards the formation of a professional and legal basis for the institution of court interpretation in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
