KAFU Hosts Research Model Development Seminar by Christiane Junqueira Giovannini

As part of the international scientific congress at the Kazakh-American Free University (KAFU)—titled “The Future of Science and Education: International Experience, Innovation, and Leadership” and held from September 28 to October 5, 2026—a practical seminar took place on the topic: “WHAT IS YOUR MODEL? DESIGNING RESEARCH MODELS IN THE SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES.” The session was led by Dr. Christiane Junqueira Giovannini, a professor and associate editor of the *International Journal of Law in a Changing World*, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
During the meeting, the professor provided a detailed analysis of key methodological aspects involved in constructing research models within the social, economic, and management sciences. Dr. Giovannini emphasized that a research question alone does not constitute a complete study; a genuine scientific model requires a clearly articulated, well-reasoned statement and a commitment to ruling out alternative hypotheses. Participants examined the processes of defining outcomes, analyzing cause-and-effect relationships, and testing competing factors—elements essential to ensuring a study goes beyond mere statistical correlation.
The seminar featured an interactive format that included group exercises on designing research models and active discussions. Hosting such international events strengthens the academic capacity of KAFU faculty and young researchers while expanding the scope of international scientific collaboration.
