KAFU Representatives Participate in World Tourism Day Business Forum

On September 26, 2026, a business platform was held at the Left Bank Complex in Ust-Kamenogorsk as part of the events dedicated to World Tourism Day in the East Kazakhstan Region. The event was attended by the leadership and international partners of Kazakhstan-American Free University, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in training qualified professionals and promoting the sustainable development of the hospitality industry.

KAFU representatives — Vice President for International Programs and Cooperation Daniel Ballast and First Vice President Zhasulan Yerbolovich Baikenov — took part in discussions on key strategies for developing the region’s tourism potential.

As part of international cooperation, KAFU Board of Trustees member Hugh Hollman delivered an online presentation entitled “Sustainable Tourism: International Experience and Opportunities for Kazakhstan.” A representative of the University of Arizona, Ola Lundemo, also joined the online session and answered questions from the speakers and guests.

In addition, the participants discussed such important issues as addressing the shortage of qualified personnel, implementing digital ecosystems, promoting tourism through social media, and developing public-private partnerships in the East Kazakhstan Region.
