KAFU Students Attend Literary Gathering: “The Book – A Golden Bridge Connecting Generations”

On October 9, 2026, as part of the “Reading Nation” project, a literary gathering titled “The Book – A Golden Bridge Connecting Generations” took place, organized by the East Kazakhstan Regional Architectural-Ethnographic and Natural-Landscape Museum-Reserve. The event brought together faculty and students from the Kazakh-American Free University, as well as members of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, students learned about the history of the development of Kazakh written culture and the lives and creative legacies of prominent enlighteners—such as Ybyrai Altynsarin, Akhmet Baitursynov, and Abai Kunanbayev—along with other figures who made significant contributions to national literature and education.

Live dombra performances added a special atmosphere to the gathering. The sound of this traditional Kazakh instrument helped participants more deeply appreciate the connection between literary heritage and the people’s cultural traditions.

To conclude the event, students took part in a brief interactive activity, testing their knowledge of Kazakh proverbs and literary works.

The event helped participants broaden their understanding of the history of Kazakh culture and literary heritage, while also reaffirming the importance of books as a link between generations.
