KAFU Teaching Fellow Successfully Completes an InteRussia International Internship in Russian Studies in Moscow

From May 18 to June 14, 2026, an InteRussia research internship for foreign specialists in the Russian language was held at the A.S. Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language in Moscow. The event was organized by the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization, the Information and Analytical Center “Mezhdunarodniki,” in collaboration with the A.M. Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund and the A.S. Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language.

The internship participants consisted of young researchers, teachers, and specialists in Russian from 16 countries: Algeria, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Senegal, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

Following a multi-stage competitive selection process, Inessa S. Demyanova, a graduate of the Kazakh-American Free University’s “Russian Language and Literature” program, was invited to participate in the prestigious international program. She successfully completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. Currently, Inessa S. Demyanova is a teaching assistant in the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology at KAFU.

For a month, Inessa S. Demyanova worked in an international academic environment, exploring modern approaches to teaching Russian as a foreign language. Program participants attended lectures and master classes by leading scholars and faculty at the Pushkin Institute, participated in expert discussions, exchanged professional experiences with colleagues from various countries, and learned about current developments in modern Russian studies.

Particular attention was paid to research during the internship. Under the guidance of leading scholars from the A.S. Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language, the participants worked on individual research projects, honed their research skills, and discussed prospects for developing Russian language teaching in the international educational space.

The internship’s cultural and educational program was also rich. Participants visited the “Word” pavilion at VDNKh, the Library of Foreign Literature, the Leo Tolstoy Estate Museum, and the Peredelkino House of Creativity Estate Museum, and also participated in events dedicated to Russian Language Day.
