Klassiker der deutschen Literatur
On October 13, 2026, an educational event dedicated to the classics of German literature took place at the Kazakh-American Free University as part of the “Reading Nation” project.
Yelena V. Shikhotova, a senior lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages, introduced third-year students to the rich and multifaceted world of German literature, its outstanding figures, and the works that have significantly influenced the development of global culture.
During the event, students learned about the creative legacies of great German writers and poets—such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Heinrich Heine, the Brothers Grimm, and other masters of the written word. Their works, filled with profound philosophical reflection, vivid imagery, and timeless themes of love, freedom, goodness, and justice, continue to inspire readers across generations.
Student presentations sparked particular interest; participants showcased the lives and works of famous authors, shared fascinating facts, and introduced the audience to some of the most significant works of German literature.
To conclude the event, students took part in a literary quiz, demonstrating their knowledge, erudition, and ability to analyze literary works. This interactive format not only helped reinforce the knowledge they had gained but also fostered a genuine interest in studying the German language and culture.
📖 Events like this broaden students’ horizons, cultivate an interest in reading, develop intercultural competence, and foster a deeper understanding of the historical and spiritual values of other nations.
✨ Through literature, we discover the culture, history, and spiritual values of a people!
