Literary Discussion: “Human Moral Choice in Literature”

On November 2, 2026, a literary discussion titled “Human Moral Choice in Literature” was held at the Kazakh-American Free University as part of the implementation of the “Tolyq Adam” (The Complete Human) concept.

The event was facilitated by Natalya A. Moshenskaya, a senior lecturer in the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, for third-year students enrolled in the Journalism degree program.

During the discussion, students explored the moral choices faced by characters in works of fiction, addressing themes such as conscience, responsibility, justice, and moral values. Participants analyzed the actions of literary characters, the motivations behind their decisions, and the consequences of the choices they made.

Special attention was given to the connection between the moral issues presented in literature and Abai Kunanbayev’s concept of “Tolyq Adam,” which is rooted in the harmony of reason, will, and the heart.

The literary discussion fostered the development of critical thinking, skills in analyzing literary texts, the ability to articulate and defend one’s own position, and the capacity to reflect upon moral values.
