Meetings of KAFU Students with a Professional Translator
From March 27 to 31, 2025, the Kazakh-American Free University, as part of its work with employers, held an annual series of meetings with a specialist in the field of translation, Maxim A. Belyaev, a 2017 KAFU graduate, an expert in translation in the field of metallurgy and industrial safety.
Since 2017, Maxim A. Belyaev has been working as a translator at «KAZZINC» LLP, regularly goes on business trips around the region, and has also worked in Australia, Spain and Germany. Even during his student years, he was actively involved in volunteer activities in the field of translation: he accompanied Oklahoma Baptist University students on business internship at KAFU, and also helped nurses as a translator during internship at City Hospital No. 4 in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
At the meetings, Maxim A. Belyaev communicated with students of the EP “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages”, “International Relations” and “Translation Studies”. During the conversations, he emphasized the key aspects of the professional activity of a translator:
• writing a resume and preparing for an interview;
• specifics of business trips and working in an international environment;
• translator’s shorthand as a work tool;
• practical experience of simultaneous translation.
The format of the meetings allowed students to ask questions, discuss real professional cases and receive valuable recommendations from a specialist.
We thank Maxim A. Belyaev for productive and informative meetings!
