Memorial Office Dedicated to Raushan A. Mambetkazieva Opened at KAFU

On June 22, 2026, the birthday of Raushan A. Mambetkazieva, the Kazakh-American Free University held a grand opening of a memorial office dedicated to the memory of the outstanding scientist, educator, ecologist, and longtime head of the KAFU research department.

The ceremony was attended by university administration, faculty, staff, colleagues, students, and family members. Those gathered remembered Raushan A. Mambetkazieva as a highly cultured person dedicated to science, education, and regional development.

Raushan A. Mambetkazieva (1939–2024) was a PhD candidate in Chemistry, an associate professor specializing in Chemical Kinetics and Catalysis, a holder of the title “Inventor of the USSR,” and the author of over 150 scientific articles, copyright certificates, and patents. For over forty years, she has taught and conducted research at Kazakh National University, S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan State University, and the Kazakh-American Free University.

Her work in ecology and environmental technology holds a special place in her biography. Under her leadership, projects to improve the environmental safety of water resources in Eastern Kazakhstan were implemented, modern wastewater treatment technologies were introduced, and international cooperation within the Kazakh-German-Russian Environmental Center was developed. Thanks to her scientific and organizational work, solutions were implemented that contributed to the implementation of the regional “Clean Water” program and improved the environmental situation in the region.

For many years, Raushan A. Mambetkazieva headed the research department of KAFU and the Vostok-Eco-Technology Center, actively promoting innovative environmental developments. Under her leadership, projects were implemented to use hydrogel for urban landscaping, industrial wastewater treatment technologies were implemented, and educational and outreach events were organized for students and specialists in the region.

The memorial office was created as a space to preserve the memory of a person who dedicated her life to science and education. It features archival photographs, documents, scientific publications, and materials reflecting her many years of professional work.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, KAFU President and Academician Yerezhep A. Mambetkaziyev noted that the memorial office will not only be a place of remembrance but also a source of inspiration for new generations of researchers, faculty, and students who will continue the tradition of service to science and society.

The opening of the memorial office is a significant event in the life of the university and a tribute of deep respect to the memory of a scientist whose scientific, pedagogical, and social activities left a noticeable mark on the history of KAFU and the entire East Kazakhstan region.
