New partnership opportunities were discussed by members of the KAFU delegation at the American University Fairfax
On February 1, 2023, a delegation from the Kazakh-American Free University, including KAFU President, Yerezhep Mambetkaziyev, KAFU Rector, Aidar Mambetkaziyev, and KAFU Vice-President for International Programs and Partnerships, Daniel Ballast, met with the President of Fairfax University of America (FXUA), Dr. Ahmed Alwani, at FXUA’s main university building in Fairfax, Virginia, USA. The primary purpose of the meeting was for the President and Rector of KAFU to meet personally with the President of FXUA, and to discuss their on-going partnership and opportunities for implementing the agreement that has been signed between their two universities.
At the meeting, members of the core leadership of FXUA were also in attendance, including Dr. Halil Atabay, General Education Program Chair, Dr. NS Hasan, Executive Dean of Academic Programs, George Rado, Accreditation and Regularly Compliance Coordinator, and Emily Zheng, Executive Assistant.
During the meeting, a number of opportunities were discussed on further implementing the agreement between KAFU and FXUA, including student and faculty exchanges, student semester abroad programs – both at FXUA for KAFU students and at KAFU for FXUA students, opportunities for developing dual degree programs, and opportunities for FXUA students to study in KAFU’s graduate programs. Dr. Ahmed Alwani affirmed his interest in the partnership between KAFU and FXUA and agreed to support any programs that can be developed between the universities. New opportunities for partnership with New Lines Institute for Strategy & Policy, a Washington DC think-tank, were also discussed, including internship opportunities for KAFU International Relations students. This group is also led by Dr. Alwani as a think-tank on public policy in the United States. Dr. Alwani also shared about his work with Keystone College in Pennsylvania, USA, and the possible opportunity to develop a new partnership between KAFU and this College.
