Scientific StandUp — A New Format of Events at KAFU
On April 7, 2025, as part of the XV International Forum of Young Scientists “Modern Scientific Directions: from Applied Research to Innovations”, a scientific StandUp was held at KAFU. The event was held in an unusual format, combining, it would seem, two incompatible concepts — science and irony.
Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Education Yulia A. Gavrilova gave a welcoming speech. The speakers were teachers, PhD doctors and young scientists of KAFU. Each of them had to go through life situations in science, filled with humor, difficulties and interesting memories.
PhD doctor, leading teacher of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology Fatima V. Iskenderova opened the Scientific StandUp with her speech. She gave the audience a short neurogymnastics and told them about her path to psychology, as well as how she maintained motivation using various techniques.
The audience especially remembered the speech by PhD, Head of the Department of Law and International Relations Kairat O. Alembaev, who humorously shared a story about the difficulties in choosing a topic for his doctoral dissertation.
PhD Aigerim M. Ismukhamedova, a specialist in the field of information systems, also spoke about her adventures during her doctoral studies. Eldar E. Mubarakov, a second-year doctoral student of the Management program, also spoke.
Scientific StandUp became a vivid example of how you can move away from the traditional format of scientific presentations and share valuable life and professional experience in an easy, humorous form.
