Sectional Sessions of the XV International Forum of Young Scientists of KAFU: Bright Ideas, Inspiring Research

From April 7 to 10, 2025, as part of the XV International Forum of Young Scientists “Modern Scientific Directions: from Applied Research to Innovations” at the Kazakh-American Free University, sectional meetings were held that covered a wide range of scientific areas – from economics and law to linguistics, journalism, psychology and tourism. In the section “Topical Issues of Finance, Economics, Management and Tourism” (moderator Mubarakov Ye.Ye.), various studies by students of KAFU and the Higher College were presented. The winners were Dias Daurenuly (mobile application “Audarmashy” for English language learners) and Danil Fedotov (development of a Telegram bot for automating business processes). Second place was taken by Ayazhan Kuandyk with a study on charitable foundations, third place – Alina Medvedeva with a topic on the influence of artificial intelligence on management decisions. In the section “Kazakh Language and Journalism Studies” (moderator Turgumbayeva N.K.) students and postgraduates from KAFU and Eurasian Humanities Institutes presented reports on issues of language and media. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of lively scientific dialogue. The best speakers were awarded diplomas of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees.

In the section “Current Issues of Applied Linguistics” (moderated by Valentina V. Gersonskaya), modern trends in the field of translation and stylistics were discussed. Term paper and diploma research devoted to the transfer of author’s neologisms, colloquial speech and stylistics in audiovisual texts were separately noted. The winners were students of the “Translation Studies” program. The section “Issues of Psychology and Pedagogy” (moderated by Irina A. Fedorova) collected reports on a wide range of topics – from the emotional states of migrants to the influence of social networks on young people. The winners were Natalia Komkova, Matvey Sibiryachkin, as well as Raisa Lyutaeva’s team and other participants who proposed original research ideas. The section “The Kazakh Language and the Law on Juvenile Crime” (moderator Abdrakhmanova A.K.) was devoted to legal issues in modern society. Particular attention was paid to the topic of juvenile delinquency. The participants demonstrated a high level of preparation, and the winners were Aibota Aidosqyzy, Aibek Seksembay, Ulpan Zhakueva and others.

In the section “Problems of International Relations, History and Jurisprudence Issues” (moderated by S.A. Muzhchil), students and postgraduates discussed current topics in international law, geopolitics and history. The best reports were presented by Arman Ualhan, Erkezhan Orazova, Aidana Biyakhmetova and other participants.

In the section “Teaching Foreign Languages: Problems and Solutions” (moderated by Polina A. Kulik), speakers presented a wide range of topics, from digital technologies in education to the development of speech skills in schoolchildren. Issues of emotional intelligence, intercultural communication, and working with children with special educational needs were touched upon. The winners were Kalkenov A.M., Yevgeniy Tretyakov, Anna Dik, Tatyana Strebkova, Elvira Akhmetchanova and Veronika Malysheva, who presented both theoretical and practice-oriented research. The section “Issues of Russian Philology and Journalism” (moderated by Levina T.V.) included 18 reports covering literature, linguistics and media practices. The participants demonstrated a high level of analysis and research skills. The first places were awarded to Polupanova S.N., Bubnova A.A. and Semenova A.P.; diplomas of the 2nd and 3rd degrees were received by seven more participants. The best works were recommended for publication in the Forum collection. The Forum became a vivid example of the involvement of young people in scientific activities and confirmed the high level of training of students of KAFU and partner universities.
