Seminar on Multiple Intelligence Theory for Students of the Department of Foreign Languages
On April 13, 2026, as part of the XVI International Forum of Young Scientists “Modern Scientific Trends: From Applied Research to Innovation,” a practical seminar on “Application of the Theory of Multiple Intelligences in Teaching English” was held at the Kazakh-American Free University (lead instructor – Anna A. Oskolkova).
During the session, students were introduced to the theory of multiple intelligences developed by American psychologist Howard Gardner and examined the eight types of intelligence and their role in learning foreign languages.
Particular attention was paid to the practical part. Students completed a mini-diagnosis to determine their own intelligence type, participated in a discussion about the characteristics of different learning styles, and completed group assignments to develop exercises for English lessons that take into account different types of intelligence. The seminar showcased examples of tasks aimed at developing language skills using visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and communicative approaches. Participants actively participated, demonstrating creativity and a high level of engagement.
The final stage included a discussion of the challenges of implementing this theory in the educational process and the search for effective methodological solutions, including differentiated instruction and flexible organization of learning activities.
The seminar contributed to the development of students’ professional competencies and broadened their understanding of modern approaches to teaching foreign languages.
